• The Back East Scholars Trip (BEST) Featured

  The Back East Scholars Trip (BEST) was founded by Foundation Board Member Grant Cambridge in 2013 as a way to expose Value Schools’ scholars to prestigious colleges and universities outside of California. Before the BEST program began, just 12% of Value Schools’ graduates were accepted to four-year universities. A decade later, that number has grown to 83%. This includes 26 scholars who have enrolled in prestigious colleges on the east coast.

Students were asked to help design the school, and their artwork and ideas were used by architects to design every aspect of Everest Value.

  Our entire community finds that giving back is addictive. Maria, the construction manager for the new Everest Value School campus, found that giving back didn't need to stop when she completed her task. Now Maria plans to stay connected to Value Schools, providing career exploration opportunities for all our students.

• Grant Cambridge Honored as Champion of Education Featured

  The Learning Rights Law Center recently honored Grant as its 2020 Champion of Education for his support of the education of underserved children and families. He’s been our champion all along. His public contributions – more than a decade as a board leader, underwriter of college trips, sponsor of challenge grants – are well known.
  But it’s the quiet encouragement, the private generosity to students and alumni, the can-do spirit and the deep commitment of this first-generation college graduate that inspire the Value Schools community.
