To cultivate a strong and healthy culture at Glenair, he avoids transactional relationships and instead hires individuals who have "something to add and nothing to prove." He also highlighted the four guiding principles that shape Glenair’s workplace: fairness, stability, recognition, and opportunity.
Urging students to believe in their abilities, Mr. Kaufman challenged them to step out of their comfort zones and engage with others. He stressed that mastering public speaking is crucial for success in any field.
Mr. Kaufman, your thought-provoking insight about apple seeds reminded me of the boundless potential we must have to make an impact. Your lecture gave me another call to focus—to plant seeds of positivity, demonstrate hard work and kindness, and trust that the ripple effects will be far greater than I can ever imagine.” -Eddie J., University Prep Value High School
After his discussion, he led the students on a tour of Glenair’s manufacturing facility, where they met engineers who explained their roles and contributions to the team. Students saw firsthand how these engineers design and produce electrical connectors for spacecraft, submarines, and aircraft. They also learned about Glenair’s unique approach to business, including its rapid inventory availability, a practice that sets the company apart from competitors who often require months to deliver products.
Senior Eddie J. from University Prep Value was deeply inspired by Mr. Kaufman’s insights, stating: “The first time I heard you speak, I left feeling enlightened and inspired, but today, hearing your insights for the second time, I realized how much more I could absorb and apply to my own life. Your lessons have truly shifted the way I view the world and motivated me to strive to become a better person in all aspects of my life.”
Eddie embodies the five core values of University Prep Value every day. He and two of his colleagues founded the Thrive in Joy Club, in partnership with the Thrive in Joy Foundation, to encourage students to be more engaged in their community. His dedication and leadership have earned him admission to the University of Pennsylvania, where he will continue his academic journey.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kaufman for sharing his time, wisdom, and experiences with our students. His mentorship and insights provided invaluable lessons that will resonate well beyond this visit. We are looking forward to our students participating in the impactful, paid internships at Glenair again this summer.
We also want to express our appreciation to Ms. Oh from University Prep Value for attending and to Ms. Craven from Central City Value for her support in making this opportunity possible.
Thank you to Jorge Lopez, Teacher Assistant at Central City Value for accompanying our students to Glenair.
