Partner - The Capital Group Companies
Grant L. Cambridge is a Partner and a portfolio manager for The Capital Group Companies, a large Los Angeles-based investment management firm. Mr. Cambridge joined The Capital Group Companies in 1997. Mr. Cambridge received a BS from Bentley College (Waltham, MA) and a Masters degree from Suffolk University (Boston, MA), and an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business. Mr. Cambridge is also a Trustee at Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea, Mystic, CT and serves on the Board of Overseers of The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens. Mr. Cambridge and his wife, Peggy, reside in Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Cambridge joined the board October 24, 2007, and has been the Board Chair since 2011.
Naya Bloom

Vice President of Alumni Leadership Development, Teach For America
As Vice President of Alumni Leadership Development at Teach For America, Naya is responsible for building, integrating, and systematizing opportunities for over 32,000 Teach For America alumni to maximize their impact, and, grow and accelerate their personal and professional leadership in the ongoing fight for educational equity. In this role, Naya leads Teach For America's Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Values-Based and Competency Based Leadership Development teams. Naya initially joined Teach For America staff in 2006 as a Director of Talent Recruitment and then as the inaugural Director of Alumni Affairs in Los Angeles. Since that time, and prior to her current role, Naya has been a leader on the national Alumni Affairs team, directly supporting regions in developing alumni impact strategy. Naya's previous work experience includes six years working as the Executive Director of a school-based non-profit, Norwood Healthy Start Family Resource Center, in South Los Angeles. During her tenure, Naya quadrupled the organization's funding base, significantly expanded collaborative membership, and piloted innovative violence prevention programming. She also provided county-wide leadership in the development of model school-based and school-linked programs. Prior to her work with Healthy Start and Los Angeles Unified School District, Naya worked for former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. Naya's entre into, and passion for, education began in 1994 during the time she spent as a Teach For America corps member in Washington, DC where she taught elementary English as a Second Language in her placement school for 3 years and later worked as a middle school bilingual counselor. Naya is a graduate of Smith College with a double major in Latin America Studies and Literature, and, holds a Master's of Administration in Educational Leadership from Pepperdine University. She chairs the Board of Directors of BookEnds, a local literacy non-profit, and is a Leadership California Fellow alumna. Naya lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Drew Furedi and their 5-year old son Cai. Naya originally hails from rural Alamosa, Colorado and has a deep love for the Southwest. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, and exploring new places and foods as well as spending time with her family (which currently usually includes playing with some sort of legos).
James Bray

Investment Analyst, Capital Research Global Investors
James K. Bray is an investment analyst for Capital Research Global Investors, with research responsibilities for U.S. small-capitalization companies. Mr. Bray was a summer associate in 2006 joining the company full-time in 2007. Mr. Bray graduated summa cum laude from New York University and received a master’s of business administration from the University of Chicago. Mr. Bray is based in Los Angeles. Mr. Bray joined the board in October 7, 2010
Juan Bustamante

Associate Attorney, Bocarsly Eden Cowan Esmail & Arndt LLP
Juan Bustamante is an associate at Bocarsly Eden Cowan Esmail & Arndt LLP, where he practices real estate law with a focus on affordable housing and community development. He represents developers and investors in connection with the acquisition, financing and development of real estate, primarily in transactions involving federal low-income housing tax credits and new markets tax credits. Mr. Bustamante received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a Frank J. Guarini Government Scholar and a researcher at the Furman Center for Real Estate & Urban Policy. Mr. Bustamante earned his B.S. in Earth Systems and his M.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Stanford University.
Jody Foldesy

Principal at The Boston Consulting Group
Mr. Foldesy is a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group. He is based in the Los Angeles office. He is a core member of BCG's Corporate Development practice area. He has served a number of leading companies on the West Coast and in the Asia/ Pacific region, mostly in the Technology/ Media and Industrial Goods spaces. He has extensive experience in developing corporate strategy and helping businesses maximize shareholder returns. Mr. Foldesy also has devoted a significant amount of his time at BCG to non-profit clients, including several in the public education space. He helped Los Angeles Unified School District develop an innovation division and its school report cards; Cleveland Metropolitan School District launch a major transformation; and the State of Arizona develop its education strategy and policies. Prior to joining BCG, Mr. Foldesy worked as a journalist at The Washington Times. He won several awards and broke a variety of major stories while covering the city’s #1 sports beat, the Washington Redskins. Mr. Foldesy earned an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He graduated with a BA in Journalism from American University in Washington, D.C.
Vincent Gonzales

Investment Analyst, Capital Group Companies
Vincent (Vince) Gonzales is an Investment Analyst at the Capital Group Companies, where he is responsible for research coverage of fixed income structured products. Prior to joining Capital, Mr. Gonzales was an associate at Newstone Capital Partners and an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs. Mr. Gonzales earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS in management science & engineering from Stanford University. Throughout his academic and professional experience, Mr. Gonzales has volunteered with several youth mentoring and education organizations. As a Los Angeles native and graduate of the local public school system, he is very passionate about increasing student and parent awareness of higher-education opportunities and financing alternatives.
Thomas Levee

Vice President and Local Sales Manager of KABC-TV, Los Angeles
Tom Levee is a television broadcast sales professional, currently serving as Vice President and Local Sales Manager of KABC-TV, Los Angeles. Prior to taking this position, Tom served as Vice President and National Sales Manager, and Account Executive at KABC-TV. Before joining KABC-TV, Tom was an Account Executive at television rep companies United Television Sales, Telerep and Seltel. He attended UCLA earning his BA in Political Science in 1986, after graduating from Palisades High School here in Los Angeles. Tom is a native Angeleno and currently lives in Manhattan Beach with his wife and their two children. Mr. Levee joined the board on March 20, 2012.
Dawn Nakagawa

Executive Vice President of the Pacific Council on International Policy
Ms. Nakagawa is the Executive Director of the Berggruen Institute on Governance. In this position, she is responsible for building the institution to become an organization of global reach and influence. Prior to joining NBI, Ms. Nakagawa was the Executive Vice President of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a global leadership network dedicated to enhancing awareness of and developing solutions to global challenges. In her position she oversaw all aspects of the organization and drove several special initiatives including the Energy, Environment and Security Committee and the Equitable Globalization Committee. She also co-directed the project on California’s Adaptation to Climate Change, recruiting the members of the taskforce which ultimately was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to be the California Adaptation Advisory Council to the State. Prior to joining the Pacific Council, Ms. Nakagawa worked as a consultant for McKinsey & Company where she developed growth strategy for Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries, including high tech, medical device, biotech, consumer products and retail industries. She holds an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the McGill University in Canada. she sits on the board of the Values Schools charter school organization and is a founding member of the local chapter of the Awesome Foundation. She lives in Southern California with her husband Gene and her two children, Ty and Jada.
Matthew O’Connor

President of American Funds Distributors
Matthew P. O’Connor is president of American Funds Distributors, part of Capital Group. He has 23 years of investment industry experience and has been with Capital Group for eight years. Earlier in his career at Capital, Matt led the Institutional Investment Services group, and managed the insurance client relationship group. Prior to joining Capital, he was the managing director of business development at Putnam Investments. He holds an MBA from F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Saint Anselm College. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. Matt is based in Los Angeles.
